STEIFF MARGARETE MEMORIAL TEDDY BEAR 29CM
Size: 29cm (11½")
2019 is the 110th Anniversary of Margarete Steiff's death and to mark this occasion, Steiff have paid homage to their founder by making a very special memorial bear. Their inspiration came from one of the very last photographs taken of her, around 1908, which is now very famous and shows Margarete Steiff sitting in her wheelchair, holding the brand new teddy bear Baho, with her dalmation lying at her feet. Local artist, Otto Nevbrand, captured the scene in 1947, in an oil painting that can still be seen in the Steiff museum to this day.
It therefore seemed fitting that this special memorial bear should be the teddy companion in this photo and it will be highly collectable, as it's only limited to 1100 pieces worldwide.
It is made of high quality white mohair, with beige paw pads and has dark eyes and black hand-stitched nose and mouth and black hand-stitched claws.
In the picture, the angle of Margarete's hand and the cap that the bear is wearing combine to make his ears look pointed and so this memorial bear is unique - thanks to his pointed, cat-like ears.
Limited to 1100 pieces
He has the famous gold plated "Button in Ear" and a white label with red writing, showing that he is only limited to 1100 pieces worldwide, making a very collectable bear.
